BIOGRAPHY | RENATA ADLER
Renata Adler is a visual artist with a bachelor’s degree in Arts from Emerson College, Boston, USA. She completed the International Baccalaureate in Photography and Arts in Switzerland and pursued further studies at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage (EAV), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
After more than a decade working as a journalist for leading Brazilian media outlets, including Veja magazine and TV Globo, Adler returned to the arts, developing a practice grounded in material transformation and experimentation. In 2017, she presented her first solo exhibition, The Course of the Planets, at Parque das Ruínas in Rio de Janeiro.
Her practice has been presented in significant exhibitions and projects, including Monumental Arte at Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, where she was invited by curator Marc Pottier to present the installation Chameleons and the Path of Transformation; A Continuous Transformation at Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, Rio de Janeiro (2019); and the group exhibition Circular Arte at Praça Adolpho Bloch, São Paulo.
Her work has also been presented in broader cultural contexts, including a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (2022–2023); the solo exhibition The Dive at Farol Santander, São Paulo (2023), accompanied by a digital catalogue and the publication The Dive; and a feature on Brazilian art channel Arte1 in 2024.
In 2025, Adler inaugurated RENATA ADLER ARTE, her studio and exhibition space in Jardim Botânico, Rio de Janeiro, curated by Mariana Bahia. That same year, she expanded her international presence with a participation in the Salon d’Automne in Paris, France.
In 2026, her work was presented in the group exhibition EspaçoTempo at the Museu Histórico da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, curated by Isabel Sanson Portella, followed by her participation in Carandaí 25, presented at the Sculpture Garden of the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, curated by Paula Mesquita.
Adler’s research explores metamorphosis, adaptation, and states of transition, bringing together chemical processes, light, and interactive installations. The chameleon emerges as a recurring metaphor within her practice, addressing questions of identity, transformation, and the continuous state of change.
